Lindsay Pulsipher and Carrie Preston drop small Spoilers
E! Online caught up with the women at Humane Society’s Genesis Awards in Los Angeles.
They Had this to say:
From Lindsay:
However, when I asked if we will finally be seeing her au natural, the blonde beauty smiled, “Let’s just say that is water under the bridge.”
Oh? Is it a steamy seen with hottie Mr. Ryan Kwanten? Pilsipher laughed, “That’s all that I could give you.”
Obviously, we’ll be seeing more of Crystal turning into black panther. The show uses two real panthers for the work. “They’re great, but you can’t really touch them,” Pulsipher said. “The trainers have really strict rules about what you can and can’t do. They’re just so majestic and so silently powerful.”
From Carrie:
“I can’t say anything other than it’s bigger and crazier than ever,” she teased, adding, “You know, we went pretty far even in the pilot, but somehow they go farther and farther and keep it going.”

When did you find out what Crystal is?
[SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED LAST WEEK'S SHOW] I found out pretty quickly afterwards. I have friends that are really big fans of the books. And when I told them who I was, it was an immediate, ‘Oh my god, you’re a werepanther! You’re a werepanther! And it was just like… I don’t even know what that is, but cool! [laughs]
The transformation is really cool. I know they used real wolves for the werewolves. Are they using real panthers?
You know what? There were panthers on set. You couldn’t really tell last night, but they were real and they’re just so beautiful and they’re some of the most majestic creatures I’ve ever been around. They were just incredible. They’re so beautiful!

Definitely. Crystal also has a very interesting background. Can you tell us a little bit more about her family and where she came from?
Little things are revealed throughout the season — more and more about her past and her history — but she’s from this family that cooks meth and they’re meth heads basically (laughs). She’s never really left this compound. It’s all she’s ever really known. She doesn’t really have a social life outside of the compound, so the world outside of that is just so big and intimidating to her I think.
For those who have read the books, or picked up on hints in the show, know that Crystal has some supernatural or non-human elements to her. How are you able to relate to a character that might not be entirely human?
There’s some instincts that Crystal might have that might be a bit foreign to normal folk. (laughs) In the books, she definitely has some supernatural powers. And I think that she has the instincts which myself as a normal person might not have and it was really fun to explore — I’m getting into dangerous territory (laughs).

Celebrity Extra: When you came aboard True Blood, it was already a bona fide hit with a solid fan base. Was that intimidating for you, or did it get you excited to tackle this role?
Lindsay Pulsipher: I was over-the-moon excited. I was screaming at the top of my lungs when I got the news I’d been cast. Then once all that settled in, I realized the caliber of the show. I knew I was coming into a huge, huge show with a huge fan base and a big following. So there was a little bit of — panic sets in and then you think, “Oh man, can I pull this off and make people excited about this role?” So I hope that I’ve pulled through.

PopWrap: Fans of the books know that Crystal is a major player in the world of “True Blood” — how much did you know coming in?
Lindsay Pulsipher: I had not read the books but I was definitely a fan of the show. I had friends that were into the books and when they found out I was playing Crystal, they were all so excited. And since I have started reading the books, so I’m a fan of both now.
PW: Did you read the books before filming started?
Lindsay: It was actually a conscious decision to wait and read the books until after we had developed Crystal’s character on the show, because they are two separate entities. The show is based on the books, obviously, but I wanted to see the character through Alan Ball & the writer’s eyes. So I held off and worked on my version of Crystal first. But now that I have a handle on her, I’m diving into the books.

Here is an excerpt:
On “True Blood,” we expect her to find some of the same fanaticism, especially since she’ll be involved in a turbulent romance with one of its most popular cast members, Ryan Kwanten, who plays Jason Stackhouse.
“She brings some complications for Jason’s character for sure,” Pulsipher explains. “I feel like for the first time maybe he sees something in Crystal that he hasn’t had in the other girls that he has been with. He’s kind of swept off his feet a little bit and he might think. ‘Oh, She could possibly be the one.’”
But, while Pulsipher’s character is inevitably going to shake things up for Jason, the man behind the part didn’t make it easy for her either.
“[Ryan is] an extremely giving actor and even in the audition he was right there and very available and present,” she says. “Since I have worked with him on the show, I have realized that he is an extremely spontaneous actor and he’ll throw in a little ad-lib. That totally works for the scene and he was doing that in the audition, you know, he was kind of ad-libbing and improving a little bit, keeping me on my toes. And it works, because I think that I was able to play off that. And it worked because I got the part.”

SPOILERS
Crystal is your character’s name though we haven’t found that out yet. Can you talk about who she is and what she’s going to be doing in the show?
Lindsay Pulsipher: She’s, as you saw in the second episode, in a meth lab and gets busted by the police and she’s kind of grownup on that compound and lived a very sheltered life. She hasn’t really lived outside of that drug world and when she’s sees Jason there in the woods I think something is sparked in her that she’s never really experienced before. That’s a life and possibly a relationship outside of her compound. This season you’ll definitely see a meeting between Jason and Crystal and a relationship blossom and explode.
