Arguing on the way back from Jessica’s parents house, Bill is still very mad at Sookie for allowing Jessica to go there. Not wanting to hear anymore, Sookie gets out of the car and decides to walk the remaining 20 miles to her house. Bill doesn’t go after her. He figures when she calms down, she will come back.
Sookie realizes a little too late that walking alone in the dark woods wasn’t such a bright idea. Feeling as though there is someone or something following her. He fear becomes real when she seems a half human half creature stalking her. She begins to run but isn’t fast enough. She creatures reaches her and scratches her deeply on the back. Bill hears her screams and rushes just in time to her side.
Bill immediately tries to revive Sookie with his blood but to his dismay, that does not work. Realizing the only way to save her is to take her to Fangtasia and ask for Eric’s help. Eric has a healer try to save Sookie. The healer is not to fond of Vampires but knows they pay well. She lets them know that Sookie has been poisoned and it is by some sort of Komodo Dragon or like creature. She can save Sookie but it will be considerably painful. Bill and Eric are asked to leave the room.
At Merlotte’s, Sam is irritated because once again his new waitress has screwed something up. This time it’s being short at least $64. Yelling at her and demanding that she needs to pay for the loss. Daphne is quite upset and dumps all her tips on the counter to help pay the amount.
After the healer has finished cleansing the wounds, Bill was finally able to have Sookie drink a little of his blood to heal her the rest of the way. Since Eric helped Sookie, Bill and Sookie decide reluctantly to help Eric find out what happened to the sheriff “Godrie” from Dallas.. Of course, with an added bonus of $10,000, Sookie really has no choice but to help.
At Maryann’s, her servant seems to be cooking up a storm. Maryann informs Tara that she is going to have a little get together that evening. Tara lets it slip that Sam had warned her against Maryann. Of course Maryann addresses the situation by saying that maybe Sam is just jealous and scare of losing Tara.
Sam is busy loading up his truck. He has decided to leave town for awhile. He needs to get away from Maryann and all the other troubles that town seems to bring him. He asks Carl to watch the bar while he’s gone. Carl reluctantly agrees but let’s Sam know he’s being a coward.
During one of the meetings at the Leadership Camp, Jason discusses openly about his past with Vampires. He feels that Vampires are not always the evil ones and that “people” also have evil intentions. Thinking maybe he made a mistake by joining the camp, Jason storms out of the room.
Rushing after him, Sarah proceeds to pray with him and convince him that he belongs there and that God has a purpose for him.
Feeling completely healed, Sookie wakes up to find herself at Fangtasia. Ginger shows up to feed her but Sookie really isn’t that hungry for a peanut butter and chocolate sandwich. Reading Ginger’s mind, Sookie discovers that Lafayette is being held prisoner in the basement. Beating Ginger to the gun, Sookie demands to be taken to him.
Jessica wakes up at Bill’s house only to find both he and Sookie gone. Feeling bored, Jessica decides to go have a little fun at Merlotte’s. Catching the eye of Hoyt, Jessica soon finds him sitting with her. Hoyt seems quite “smitten” with Jessica. Not even caring that she is a Vampire. Ordering her a bottle of True Blood, they settle in to get to know one another.
Meanwhile, Maryann’s party seems to have taken on a different vibe. Everyone is laughing and dancing seductively with one another. Many are topless or running around completely naked. Maryann even convinces Detective Andy to stick around for a drink or two.
Tara and Eggs are having a wonderful time in the hot tub only to be disturbed by one of those topless females. Eggs let’s the “intruder” give him a massage and after looking around the party and what’s happening, Tara soon realizes that she wants no part of him or it…the whole scene. It seems as if everyone is in a trance or under some kind of spell.
Jessica takes Hoyt back to Bill’s house. She is quite tempted to bite Hoyt but quickly beats that temptation and finally feels like Hoyt honestly likes her. He wants to take it slow but Jessica is tired of being the “good” girl and pounces on Hoyt. Right about now, Bill and Sookie arrive home after dropping Lafayette off at his house. Bill sees what he “thinks” is going on and throws Jessica off of Hoyt. He may have reacted to harshly because Jessica was just “making out” with Hoyt.
Sam finishes loading up his truck for his trip when he sees his dog or maybe it’s the town dog. He decides for one last time, he will shape shift and take off running with his friend. Making it all the way to the pier, Sam dives into the water and changes back into himself. His friend on the hand decides to not take a swim and runs off.
Daphne shows up a moment later and decides a midnight swim would be nice too. Taking off her shorts and her top, revealing that she too had long scratches from the mysterious creature on her back.
