Liz in Costa Mesa, Calif.: True Blood is the best part of the summer, so I’ll need to know what to expect in the new season.

First of all, in case you haven’t heard, True Blood’s new season starts on June 10, so mark it on your Alexander Skarsgård-themed calendars. As for that to expect, we’ve met all different kinds of vampires in four seasons of True Blood, but in the new season T.B. will introduce us to a type of vamp we’ve never met before. We can’t reveal more than that, but we can tell you that this character is described as strong and cocky, and they’ll be around for more than one episode.

The Inside True Blood Blog has posted a photo of a new mystery set on True Blood season 5.
I’m thinking someone is gonna be in one of those drawers!

The 12-episode fifth season of TRUE BLOOD will kick off SUNDAY, JUNE 10 at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT). Based on the popular Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris, this Emmy®-nominated hit drama series was created by Alan Ball, creator of HBO’s Emmy®-winning series “Six Feet Under.” The show follows waitress and part-faerie Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), who can hear people’s thoughts, vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and vampire Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård).

Ausiello: Ever wonder what an eight-pack looks like on a teenager? There’s a good chance you’ll find out in this season’s ninth episode, titled “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” which introduces us to an “innocent-faced” 14-year-old Alcide. That flashback sequence also features a young Debbie, so my guess is we’ll probably see how that toxic relationship of theirs took shape. Speaking of TB, the show is also casting a Marilyn Manson-esque vampire who was once powerful and heroic but is now a sad old man.

NATALIE: The fifth season will feature a flashback to the 1930s that will show us the fate of Bill’s daughter Sarah (aka Portia Bellefleur’s great-great-great-grandmother — ick). Appropriately, Bill Compton himself — that is, Stephen Moyer — is stepping behind the camera to direct the episode.
