Does Anna Paquin do a good Sookie?
“Anna Paquin does a fantastic Sookie! I was so excited when she wanted the role and I think she’s doing a wonderful job. It’s bizarre seeing famous faces acting out my characters – it’s very strange and I’m still trying to get used to it! But of course, seeing my name up there every week is quite a thrill!”

The Sydney Morning Herald has an article about Charlaine Harris.

Here is an excerpt:
The author behind the popular HBO series True Blood isn’t into psychoanalysing her sexy murder mysteries, even though their kinky characters cry out for it.
But otherwise thoughtful and conventional people who have found themselves glued to the television adaptation of Harris’s work might need a session or two on the couch to explain why they can’t get enough of a story based on sex with vampires. Vampires are, after all, creatures who are dead.
Necrophilia and incest are not themes you would usually associate with a 58-year-old churchgoing mother of three who has lived for 20 years in the Bible-belt state of Arkansas. “I’m just a gruesome person,” she says, matter-of-factly.

BBB: What are the most challenging and the most rewarding aspects of writing?
CH: Challenges? Every day is a challenge. I hate to use a sea metaphor, but being a writer is like being the entire crew of a large ship. To extend that, when you reach your destination in one piece . . . that’s a great reward.
BBB: Do you consider different books paranormal romance or urban fantasy? and do you think it is important to distinguish between the two?
CH: It’s not important to me personally, no. But to the people shelving the books it’s quite important, because readers are looking for a book skewed more to romance or more to adventure, and they want to look in the right place.

Summary for latest Sookie Stackhoue book – “Dead in the Family”

Below is the summary of the 10th Sookie Stackhouse book by Charlaine Harris, Dead in the Family
Amazon.co.uk.
Sookie Stackhouse has finally settled into a relationship with the Viking vampire Eric, and her errant brother Jason seems to have his life in order, too. But all the other people in Sookie’s life – Eric himself, her former lover Bill, her friend and boss Sam – are having family problems. Eric’s maker shows up with Eric’s ‘brother’ in tow, the ailing Bill can only be healed by a blood sibling, and Sam’s brother’s marriage is about to take place . . . or will it? The furor raised by the coming out of the two-natured has yet to settle; some people are just not ready to sit down to dinner with a man who turns into a dog. And Sookie herself is still recovering from her last ordeal. She’s definitely improving, physically and mentally, but she’s always going to have some dark moments now. The werewolves tell her that there have been strange and ominous passers-by in the Stackhouse woods; now Sookie is about to come face-to-face with one of her more distant relatives . . .

DD: Earlier this year, I was proud to see two of the Sookie Stackhouse novels in the New York Times paperback mass market bestseller top 5- and 20-lists, respectively.
CH: All the Sookie books have been on the NYT list at one point or another. Right after True Blood aired, seven of the Sookie books were in the top 15, I think. This gives me a certain amount of prestige in the publishing world, makes me a favorite at Penguin, and of course I make a lot more money. This is very sweet after all the years when I wasn’t even breaking even.
DD: I’m especially anxious to learn the backstory about Sookie’s cousin Hadley, explored in Definitely Dead. Will your upcoming collection, A Touch of Dead (Ace, October 2009) include all of the Sookie Stackhouse short stories to date?
CH: Yes, ATOD will have all the Sookie stories; not all the ones set in the Sookieverse but featuring other characters, but the ones with Sookie as protagonist will all be included.
Charlaine Harris Interview

Metro World News has an interview with Charlaine Harris, author of the Sookie Stackhouse book series.
You can read the interview here.
Here is an excerpt from the interview:
Q. You started the Sookie Stackhouse books back in 2001 before the big vampire craze. Why were you interested in vampires, and why have you dedicated a whole series to them?
A. The series is actually about the young human woman who is dating a vampire. I thought that would be a more interesting approach. It seemed to be that it would be interesting to write about characters who are so different from humans, who have seen so much history.

Here is an excerpt from the interview:
Q. What’s been the most interesting/surprising or creative storyline(s) that HBO has developed in the series?
A. Jessica, without a doubt.
Q. Which parts of the TV series most visually match what you envisioned when you wrote your book series?
A. Sookie’s house is perfect, though it doesn’t have the same layout. But the rooms are just right. In Sam’s office, the desk is turned in a different direction, but other than that it’s wonderful.
Q. Do you know ahead of time what is on each episode? Do you watch each Sunday?
A. I do know ahead of time. And I do watch each Sunday.
Charlaine’s gonna be on True Blood

According to an article at the NY Daily News the author of the Sookie Stackhouse series, Charlaine Harris, will be making a guest appearance in the season finale of True Blood Season 2.
This is what the article said:
Series creator Alan Ball told reporters Wednesday that though he and Harris don’t talk much about the direction of the show, they keep in touch.
“She actually is going to come out and do a cameo probably in the last episode of the season,” said Ball. “But I do think it’s best to just respect that boundary. Maybe I’m just being chicken because I don’t want to hear that she hates this or she hates that.”
