Tara Thornton – Rutina Wesley

Tara Thornton is the bartender at Merlotte’s bar and grill. She has a fierce temper and is easy to anger, yet she has been best friends with Sookie Stackhouse since childhood. Tara has an alcoholic mother, Lettie Mae, her cousin is Lafayette Reynolds, and she has had a fling with her boss, Sam Merlotte and a life-long crush on Jason Stackhouse.

Rutina Wesley plays the stron-willed Tara Thornton on the True Blood series. A graduate of the Juilliard School Drama Division her acting career is just beginning. Rutina has appeared in an episode of the TV series Numb3rs and played Raya Green in How She Move.
