Tara Thornton – Rutina Wesley

Tara Thornton is the bartender at Merlotte’s bar and grill. She has a fierce temper and is easy to anger, yet she has been best friends with Sookie Stackhouse since childhood. Tara has an alcoholic mother, Lettie Mae, her cousin is Lafayette Reynolds. She has not had much luck in the love department. At the end of season 4 she is shot in the head by Debbie while protecting Sookie. She will be in season 5, but we don’t know in what capacity yet.

Rutina Wesley plays the stron-willed Tara Thornton on the True Blood series. A graduate of the Juilliard School Drama Division her acting career is just beginning. Rutina has appeared in an episode of the TV series Numb3rs and played Raya Green in How She Move.
