In this interview, Gavankar discusses why young actors need another digital tool to build their careers, offers some must-don’ts when it comes to social media and explains why she doesn’t obsess over her Facebook page.

Tell me how the idea for this theme came about? Did you approach Posterous?

I believe artists deserve all the help they can get, so they can focus on being great artists. Actors, specifically, need a place to display their past work, for potential future work, but there is no industry standard for this. I simply wanted to empower them to be autonomous in their online presence. I reached out to Rich Pearson at Posterous and asked if this was something they would be interested in supporting.
